About Me

I am a psychologist trained in neuropsychology, health psychology, and the wonders of how our mind, brain, body, and social connections interact. Both my clinical work and my personal philosophy explore the multiple means by which these interactions can be put to work to improve our health, ourselves, our relationships, and our lives.



  • Earned a PhD in neuropsychology from the Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science 
  • Completed an internship through the Department of Neurosurgery at the University of Minnesota 
  • Licensed as a Psychologist in Minnesota through the Minnesota Board of Psychology (LP1585) 
  • Am a Fellow of the Academy of Clinical Health Psychology  
  • Am a Diplomat through the American Board of Professional Psychology 
  • Am a Fellow of the American Society of Clinical Hypnosis 
  • Am a Diplomat through the American Board of Psychological Hypnosis 
  • Am an Approved Consultant through the American Society of Clinical Hypnosis
  • 2025 – Received the Milton H. Erickson Award for Scientific Excellence in Writing in Clinical Hypnosis for my article: Once Upon a Time: Storytelling, Hypnosis, and the Brain (ASCH, 2025) 
  • 2020 – Received the William S. Kroger Award for Best Paper on Hypnosis, Health and Behavioral Medicine for my article: In the Intersubjective Space: Hypnosis through a Neuropsychological Lens (ASCH, 2020) 
  • 2017 – Received the Milton H. Erickson Award for Scientific Excellence in Writing in Clinical Hypnosis for my article: Re-orienting Hypnosis Education (ASCH, 2017) 
  • 2015 – Published Staying Sharp: 9 Keys to a Youthful Brain through Modern Science & Ageless Wisdom (Simon & Schuster, 2015). This book was a finalist for the Books for a Better Life Award, which recognized the best book of the year in the self-improvement category. 
  • Between 1995 and 2025, I have published 17 articles in peer reviewed professional journals 
  • Published three books capturing my photographic adventures in the world:
